Last week Ken Ham, the founder and president of Answers in Genesis, announced his group’s next project- Ark Encounter.
Ham is probably best known for doing his part to promote a literal reading of the book of Genesis. In 2007, he opened up the Creation Museum– a shrine dedicated to all things young-earth. The Ark Encounter promises to have, among other things, a full scale replica of Noah’s Ark- complete with petting zoo. The formal announcement (video below) was made by Kentucky governor Steve Beshear, who seems mostly excited about the economic possibilities.
There have been a variety of good and bad responses to the announcement, but one of the more thoughtful ones can be read here, as he laments the “disney-ification” of our faith. Take a read.
