How To Welcome Visitors To Church

Steve McSwain over at the Huffington Post posted this welcome statement from a church bulletin which was passed on to him.

As he didn’t mention a specific church and doesn’t appear to have the actual bulletin, it’s possible that this statement didn’t actually in any bulletin (which he seems to acknowledge).

Its tone is actually very similar to the liturgy used (and created…I think) for the opening chapel this semester at Yale Divinity. So, if it is real, and I had a guess, I would guess it comes from an Episcopal church.

But, again, that’s just a complete shot in the dark.

Regardless, I hope it is real because this is the sort of wonderful and profoundly Christ-like welcoming every church should offer her visitors.
